SINOMER® SMA (Stearyl Methacrylate) is a long-chain hydrophobic methacrylate monomer featuring a C18 alkyl group and a polymerizable methacrylate double bond. Compared to its acrylate counterpart (SA), the α-methyl group in SMA provides higher glass transition temperature (Tg) and better thermal stability in homopolymers, while maintaining excellent flexibility and low shrinkage. Its long hydrophobic side chain offers outstanding water resistance, weather resistance, and compatibility with non-polar systems.
