*Direct replacements for RHEOBYK-410 and RHEOBYK-D 410, plus an eco-friendly NBP version*
If you formulate industrial coatings, anti‑corrosion paints, wood finishes, or filled casting resins, you know how critical rheology control is. Sagging, settling, poor recoatability – these issues cost time and money.
Agesin® RH‑A4410 series offers three liquid rheology modifiers that deliver highly thixotropic flow behavior, excellent anti‑settling and anti‑sagging properties, without compromising leveling or gloss. All three are NMP‑free and NEP‑free (except the NMP version obviously), and each is tailored to different solvent preferences and regulatory needs.
Product Name | Solvent | Primary Replacement Target | Key Feature |
All three are based on modified polyurea technology. When added to a coating system, dilution of the solvent triggers crystallization into very fine, fibrous structures. These fibers form a reversible three‑dimensional network that gives strong shear‑thinning behavior and rapid viscosity recovery at rest – exactly what you need for sag control and pigment suspension.
This is the direct equivalent to RHEOBYK‑410. Same active chemistry, same solvent (NMP), same performance. It is a liquid rheology modifier for medium‑polarity solvent‑borne and solvent‑free systems. It can be added after the grinding stage or as a post‑additive to correct sagging or settling in finished paints.
Typical applications:
Anti‑corrosion coatings (epoxy, polyurethane)
General industrial paints
Wood coatings
Filled casting resins
Recommended dosage:
Anti‑settling: 0.2 – 0.5% | Anti‑sagging: 0.5 – 2.0%
This product is chemically equivalent to RHEOBYK®‑D 410 (the DMSO‑solvent version of BYK‑410). It is designed for formulators who prefer DMSO over NMP, either for regulatory reasons or compatibility with specific resin systems. It offers the same thixotropic efficiency, temperature‑independent activation, and excellent gloss retention.
Why choose the DMSO version?
NMP‑free, NEP‑free
DMSO has a more favorable regulatory profile in many regions
Excellent compatibility with epoxy, polyurethane, acrylate, and polyester systems
Specifications:
Viscosity (25°C): 400 – 800 mPa·s | Active content: 50% | Density: 1.11 g/cm³
This is our in‑house developed version using N‑Butyl Pyrrolidone (NBP) as the solvent. Unlike conventional NMP or N‑ethyl pyrrolidone (NEP) based rheology additives, NBP offers a much improved environmental and health profile. It is not classified as toxic for reproduction (no R‑60/61), and it complies with the strictest industrial standards.
RoHS compliant – passes all restricted substances (Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr(VI), PBBs, PBDEs, and phthalates DBP, BBP, DEHP, DIBP) – confirmed by SGS test report.
Low chlorine content – measured at 10,273 ppm (full halogen test available). For many industrial coatings this is acceptable; for ultra‑low chlorine requirements please consult.
No NMP, no NEP – safer for workers and the environment.
Excellent anti‑settling and anti‑sagging – same modified polyurea technology, same performance.
Industrial coatings (where NMP is restricted)
PVC plastisols (improves thixotropy, faster processing, anti‑settling, controls floating)
Reactive and catalytic systems (test storage stability when used with desiccants or nitrocellulose)

All three are 100% active on solids basis after solvent evaporation.
For best results, add the rheology modifier after the pigment dispersion stage, once the coating has been diluted to its final high‑shear viscosity. This prevents destruction of the crystalline network by high‑speed milling. Stir under moderate shear – no heating or cooling is required. The additive can also be used for post‑adjustment of finished paints.
In PVC plastisols (especially for the NBP version), the additive increases thixotropy, speeds up processing, improves anti‑settling and anti‑sagging, and minimizes pigment floating.
Note: When used in combination with driers (metal‑based desiccants), slight discoloration may occur due to metal complex formation. Evaluate rheological effectiveness and yellowing in your specific system. For systems containing nitrocellulose, always test storage stability.
Packaging: 25 kg plastic drum, 180 kg steel drum (also 200 kg options)
Storage: Keep in dry, clean warehouse with good ventilation. Avoid light and heat. Store at 5 – 25°C. Keep containers tightly sealed. Shelf life: 24 months in original unopened packaging.
If the product solidifies due to low temperature, warm to room temperature and mix thoroughly before use. If layering occurs, stir well.
