SINOMER® EMDOA is a monofunctional acrylate monomer containing a dioxolane ring structure. It offers very low odor, low skin irritation, excellent adhesion to difficult substrates (PET, PP, PE), and no aquatic toxicity. Due to its high dilution power and low surface tension, it is particularly suitable for UV diluents and ink formulations.
Compared to SINOMER THFA (tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate), SINOMER® EMDOA has a higher molecular weight, which results in even lower skin irritation and lower odor, while maintaining excellent dilution performance. The branched structure and dioxolane ring contribute to its unique balance of low viscosity, good solvency, and reduced shrinkage.

Very low odor – much lower than conventional acrylates like THFA
Low skin irritation – safer for manual handling and sensitive applications
High adhesion – excellent bonding to PET, PP, PE, and other low‑surface‑energy plastics
High dilution power – effectively reduces viscosity of UV resins and oligomers
Low surface tension – improves wetting and leveling in inks and coatings
No aquatic toxicity – environmentally friendlier profile
Dioxolane ring structure – provides high solvency and low shrinkage
Branched structure – further lowers surface tension for better substrate wetting
UV diluent – reduces formulation viscosity while maintaining fast cure response
UV inks (offset, screen, flexo, inkjet) – improves flow, wetting, and adhesion on plastic films
UV adhesives – enhances adhesion to untreated or hard-to-bond plastics (PET, PP, PE)
UV coatings for plastics – provides flexibility and adhesion without aggressive solvents
Compared to THFA, SINOMER® EMDOA offers similar or better dilution efficiency with significantly reduced odor and skin irritation, making it a preferred choice for user-friendly formulations.
As reactive diluent – 10 – 40% of total formulation depending on target viscosity and properties
As adhesion promoter – 5 – 20% to improve bonding to polyolefin and polyester substrates
Optimal dosage should be determined by laboratory trials.
