AgeSin® AP-L3170D

titanium acetylacetonate, solvent-based adhesion promoter, metal adhesion promoter, Tyzor AA-75 alternative

AgeSin® AP-L3170D is primarily formulated as a titanium acetylacetonate chelate, which remains stable at room temperature. During the application process, as solvents evaporate, the titanate can undergo cross-linking reactions with active groups (such as -OH, -COOH, -NH₂, -CONH₂, -SH) present on the substrate and within the ink or coating binder. This creates bridging bonds, increasing molecular weight and consequently enhancing properties like heat resistance, chemical resistance, water resistance, and drying performance. Ultimately, the bridging action of the titanate between the resin and the substrate improves the adhesion of inks and coatings, can replace Tyzor AA-75.

Application Fields :

Solvent-based

Key Features :
  • Enhances adhesion of inks and coatings to substrates (pre-treated plastics, aluminum foil, metals, glass).

  • Improves scratch resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance, and boil resistance of inks and coatings.

  • Increases drying speed, surface gloss, and pigment dispersibility in inks and coatings.

Usage Guidelines :
  • Substrate Pretreatment: Substrates (plastics, aluminum foil, metals, glass) typically require pretreatment (e.g., corona discharge, flame, or chemical treatment) to generate active groups like -OH or -COOH.

  • Resin Compatibility: Compatible with resins containing active groups (e.g., -OH, -COOH, -NH₂), such as PA, NC, PU, PVB, CAB, CAP, EVA.

  • Recommended Dosage: 0.5 - 3% (based on resin solids content).

  • Addition Method: It is recommended to add in the final stage of ink or coating manufacture at temperatures below 40°C. Ensure substrates are pretreated with a surface tension above 36-38 dynes/cm.

  • Post-Processing: After printing, inks should be cured at 60°C for 1 minute to facilitate the reaction between the titanate and the substrate.

  • Interaction with Antioxidants: Phenolic antioxidants can interact with titanium chelates, potentially causing color darkening. To avoid this issue in white inks, transparent inks, or light-colored topcoats, the use of aluminum chelates is recommended.

  • Storage Consideration: AgeSin® AP-L3170D is a strong chelating agent and can easily form chelates with metals. Therefore, storage in plastic containers is recommended.
